The HBCU Polls: Losses cause slight shifts in polls, JSU unanimous No. 1 in HBCU football

Key matchups caused shifts in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. Jackson State defeated Southern on Saturday and remains No. 1 in HBCU football, receiving all first place votes in both polls. The defending HBCU campion South Carolina State Bulldogs dropped out of both polls.

In the coaches poll, Southern dropped three spots to No. 6 this week. No. 2 Florida A&M remained the same while No. 3 North Carolina Central, No. 4 North Carolina A&T, and No. 5 Prairie View A&M all moved up one spot from last week.

There were more changes in the media poll as losses by Virginia Union and Fort Valley State caused shifts. VUU dropped four spots to No. 6. FVSU dropped out of the poll, allowing for North Carolina A&T and Prairie View A&M to enter the poll at No. 9 and No. 10.

The HBCU FCS coaches and media polls are administered by BOXTOROW. The coaches poll, in its 13th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 15th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
