[/insert_php]Week 8’s results had some effect in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. The results did not however affect North Carolina A&T.
In the coaches poll, the changes happened at the bottom of the poll. The Aggies once again received all of the first-place votes. The Aggies have been in the poll for 37-straight weeks. Despite losses by Tennessee State and Prairie View A&M to FBS opponents – TSU fell 35-14 to Vanderbilt and PV fell to Rice 65-44 – the Tigers and Panthers remained No. 2 and No. 6, respectively.
Florida A&M enters the poll for the first time this year at No. 10 after defeating Hampton 31-14. This is the first time the Rattlers have been in the poll since Week 3 of 2013. The Rattlers have won three of their last four games. The Pirates dropped out of the poll.
Jackson State enters the poll for the first time since Week 5 of the 2014 season at No. 9. Jackson State defeated Texas Southern 21-13. Texas Southern also dropped out.
In the media poll, Tuskegee’s surprising 10-9 loss to Kentucky State dropped the Golden Tigers two spots to No. 5. Virginia Union defeated Bowie State 42-35 and the loss dropped BSU, who was No. 9 last week, out of the poll and allowed Winston-Salem State, who has won six of its last seven games, to re-enter at No. 10.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and the media poll are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
