With the start of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament on the horizon, the 16th HBCU Division I college basketball All-America teams powered by BOXTOROW were released.

Jackson State guard Ken Evans Jr. and Norfolk State guard Jamarii Thomas has been selected HBCU National Co-Players of the Year. Evans leads the SWAC in scoring (18.8), is tied for sixth in assists (93), averaged 5.4 rebounds per game, and shot 39 percent from three-point range. He had 11 games of scoring 20 or more points and scored 30 or more points three times including a season high 37 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3/7). Evans was also named SWAC Player of the Year. Thomas leads the MEAC in scoring (17.1), steals (2.1), and free throw percentage (.814), and is second in assists (121). He scored 20 or more points in a game 10 times and scored a season high 31 points in the win at Illinois State (12/9). He was named MEAC Player of the Year.

Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones has been named HBCU National Coach of the Year. In his 10th season as the head coach of the Spartans, Jones led the Spartans to their fourth MEAC regular season championship as head coach. This is Jones’ second HBCU National Coach of the Year award as he shared the honor during the 2021-22 season. The Spartans are 22-11.

Fourteen schools are represented on this year’s BOXTOROW All-America teams. BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2009.
