[/insert_php]It was a tale of two weeks for the North Carolina A&T Aggies against FBS opponents. After defeating Kent State 39-36 in four overtimes last week, the Aggies lost to Tulsa on Saturday 58-21.
Despite the loss, A&T was voted No. 1 in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls.
Last week the Aggies were a unanimous selection in both polls and this week they received 16-of-18 first-place votes in the coaches poll. Tennessee State continues to impress after its 31-24 road victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. The Tigers are the only undefeated team in the poll and move up one spot from last week to No. 3.
Bethune-Cookman dropped out of the top five to No. 9. While the Wildcats took the biggest fall, Southern entered the poll for the first time this year at No. 7 after its 64-6 victory over Alabama State – which dropped the Hornets from the poll.
Alcorn State was upset by Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45-43 in three overtimes in front of a nationally televised audience Thursday and dropped three spots to No. 5 this week. UAPB missed being ranked in the top 10 by four points.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches and media polls are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
