[/insert_php]North Carolina A&T remained No. 1 in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls for the second straight week.
In the coaches poll, the Aggies received 14 of 19 first-place votes and finished 12 points ahead of second place Tennessee State who received three first-place votes. No. 3 Grambling and No. 4 North Carolina Central each moved up one spot from last week and despite its 38-31 loss to FBS opponent Kent State, Howard moved up one spot and rounds out the top five. It is the first time in the nine-year history of the coaches poll that
Howard has been ranked in the top five.
Bethune-Cookman made the biggest increase, rising three spots to No. 6 this week after defeating Southeastern Louisiana 28-23.
In the media poll, A&T received a majority of the first-place votes (7) with No .2 Tennessee State receiving two first-place votes and No. 3 Grambling receiving two. Bowie State (Winston-Salem State) and Albany State (Tuskegee) are both coming off non-conference wins against conference opponents and both enter the top 10 for the first time this year at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and the media poll are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
