BOXTOROW Polls: Grambling’s win in Bayou Classic causes minor shakeups

Only three games were played last week, but Grambling’s big win over Southern in the Bayou Classic caused some movement in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls.

Grambling once again received two first place votes and remains No. 2 in the coaches poll.  Southern dropped to No. 5, down from No. 3 last week. Alcorn State and will face off in the SWAC championship game this Saturday in Houston and the winner of that game will take on No. 1  North Carolina A&T in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta, Saturday, December 16.

Prairie View A&M defeated Texas Southern 30-16 in the Labor Day Classic that was rescheduled from Labor Day weekend due to weather. The Panthers remain No. 9.

The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and the media poll are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW.  The coaches poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
