Jackson State handled Florida A&M 59-3 in the Orange Blossom Classic and again were voted No. 1 in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls which were released on Monday.
In the coaches poll, JSU outpaced No. 2 South Carolina State by 53 points and received 17 of 18 first place votes. North Carolina Central made the biggest jump, moving up five spots in the preseason poll to No. 3.
In the media poll, defending champion Bowie State moved up two spots to No. 2. No. 7 North Carolina Central and No. 8 Alabama State – who is 2-0 – both move into the poll after not being ranked in the preseason. No. 10 Florida A&M fell from the No. 3 spot in the preseason.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches and media polls are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll, in its 13th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 15th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
