HBCU D2 Coaches Poll: Bowie State wins, retains No. 1 ranking

Bowie State defeated New Haven 27-20 on Saturday and kept its No. 1 ranking in The HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW. The Bulldogs received all but one first place vote. No. 2 Albany State also won its game against Mississippi College and received the other first place vote.

West Virginia State made the biggest jump, moving up to No. 5, four spots from its preseason ranking. Four teams, not in the preseason poll, enter the Week 1 poll including No. 6 Benedict, No. 8 Central State, No. 9 Lane, and No. 10 Fort Valley State.
