Virginia State’s blowout victory of Lincoln (Pa.) moved the Trojans up two spots to No. 3 this week as the HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW which was released on Tuesday. The Benedict Tigers remain undefeated and No. 1 in the poll while Virginia State remains No. 2.
Fayetteville State remained in the No. 4 spot, while Fort Valley State moved up one spot to No. 5 this week. No. 9 Johnson C. Smith and No. 10 Albany State reentered the poll this week.
This week’s games will determine seeding for the SIAC and CIAA championship games. Benedict is guaranteed a spot in the SIAC championship game on November 11. FVSU, No. 6 Tuskegee, Miles, and Albany State are all still in the running for the right to face BC.
In the CIAA, Virginia State plays at Virginia Union for the Northern Division championship and the right to face Southern Division champion FSU in the championship game on Nov. 11.
