Media Poll Week 12

BOXTOROW Polls: N.C. A&T validates why its top team in HBCU Football

The two-time defending North Carolina A&T Aggies have won eight-straight non-MEAC games against FCS or FBS competition dating back to 2017.

Elon was the latest victim.

With the Aggiees defeating Elon 24-21 Saturday, N.C. A&T begin the season a unanimous No.1 in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. This makes the three of the last four years that the Aggies have started Week 1 as the No.1 team in HBCU football.

In the coaches poll, Bethune-Cookman came in at No.2, coming of a 36-15 win over Jackson State in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge. The biggest surprise of the weekend was South Carolina State’s 28-13 win over national FCS-ranked Wofford. The Bulldogs are No. 5 in the poll.

The media poll was similar in that A&T, B-CU and Alcorn State were Nos. 1, 2, and 3. Unlike past Week 1 polls, seven of the teams won opening weekennd games.

The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and media poll are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW.  The coaches poll, in its 11th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 13th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
