As the 2021-22 college basketball season begins to wind down, BOXTOROW releases its 13th annual Division II HBCU All-America teams.

West Virginia State guard Glen Abrams has been named BOXTOROW Division II Player of the Year. The graduate student from Chicago, Ill. finished seventh in the Mountain East Conference in scoring (19.6), led the conference in three-point field goals made per game (3.0), averaged 4.0 rebounds per game, and averaged 3.0 assists per game. He scored 30 or more points in a game four times, and scored 26 points, handed out eight assists, and pulled down seven rebounds in the Yellow Jackets’ upset victory over West Liberty (3/12/22) in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament.

Fayetteville State head coach Luke D’Alessio and West Virginia State head coach Bryan Poore were named BOXTOROW Co-Coaches of the Year. In his third season and second on the floor at FSU, D’Alessio led the Broncos to the CIAA Tournament championship – their first in almost 50 years – and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. The Broncos finished the season 22-9. In his 23rd season, Poore led the Yellow Jackets to a second place finish in the MEC and a 103-94 upset overtime victory over No. 1 Atlantic Region seed West Liberty (3/12/22) in the first round of the NCAA Division II tournament. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 23-7.

BOXTOROW has administered the All-America teams since 2009.
