Benedict defeated Albany State in the SIAC championship to win its second straight and remained atop the HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW, released on Tuesday. The Tigers received all but one first place vote.

The other first place vote went to No. 2 Virginia Union who defeated No. 3 Fayetteville State in the CIAA championship game. All of the teams from last week’s poll are in this week; the difference being No. 6 Tuskegee and No. 7 Albany State switched places, No. 8 Fort Valley State moved up two spots from last week, and No. 9 Johnson C. Smith and No. 10 Allen each dropped a spot from last week.

The final poll to determine the HBCU D2 coach’s national champion will be released on Thursday, December 14.

The HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW is administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW, and is voted on by the HBCU NCAA Division II coaches.
