Podcast: Darius Leonard making seamless transition from SC State to National Football League

It’s rare that a rookie in the National Football League comes in and dominates, particularly defensively. And one that comes from a small school.

That is exactly what former South Carolina State star and Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard is doing. As a matter of fact, he is picking up where he left off at SCSU. Through four weeks, he leads the National Football League in tackles (54), leads all rookies in sacks (4) and has broken up two passes. He had 19 tackles (15 solo) a sack and a forced fumble in the Colts victory over the Redskins. He had 19 tackles against Clemson in 2016 which really put him on National Football League team’s radar.

The former and reigning two-time BOXTOROW Willie Davis National Defensive Player of the Year leads the league in tackles despite not playing in the game against the Patriots due to injury. He sat down with BOXTOROW host Donal Ware prior to the Houston game to talk about his season, his time at SCSU, married life and his child that is on the way.
