A few upsets caused some movement in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls, and helped to shape a few conferences races. Florida A&M remains No. 1 in both polls for the third straight week, receiving all but one first place vote in both polls and continues to control its own destiny for its first MEAC crown since 2010.
In the coaches poll, the top five teams remained the same with North Carolina A&T holding the No. 2 spot despite its bye and Alcorn State holding at No. 3, receiving the other first place vote. North Carolina Central dropped out of the poll after its loss to Delaware State, while Alabama A&M reentered the poll at No. 8 after its win over Alabama State in the Magic City Classic.
In the media poll, Bowie State controls its own destiny in the CIAA Northern Division and moved up to No. 4, two spots above last week after defeating Lincoln (Pa.). Southern surged to No. 5, up four spots from No. 4 and controls its own destiny in the SWAC West. No. 8 Fayetteville State enters the poll for the first time this year and has clinched the CIAA Southern Division for the second straight year. No. 10 Albany State also enters the poll for the first time this year and clinched the SIAC East by virtue of its win over Benedict and Morehouse’s loss to Fort Valley State.
