BOXTOROW Polls: Despite loss, Tennessee State remains No. 1 in split poll; Grambling drops

Tennessee State hung tough with Power Five and SEC opponent Vanderbilt, falling 31-27, but remained No.1 in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. North Carolina A&T received a number of votes in both polls and remains No. 2 after bouncing back from its loss last week against Morgan State, defeating South Carolina State 31-16 in a nationally televised game on Thursday evening.

In the coaches poll, Prairie View A&M climbed to No. 3 and received a first place vote after knocking off Grambling 22-16 in the State Fair Classic in Dallas. Grambling dropped four spots to No. 7.

In the media poll, Alcorn State and Prairie View A&M both moved up two spots to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Similar to the coaches poll, Grambling dropped from No. 3 last week to No. 7. Morehouse remains undefeated after defeating Kentucky State 23-21.
