Rick Flair’s famous line is, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man.” And that’s exactly what the FAMU Rattlers did to the North Carolina A&T Aggies Sunday in Tallahassee.
And with the victory, the Rattlers now sit atop both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. It is the first time ever FAMU is atop either poll.
In the coaches poll, the Aggies and the Rattlers flip-flopped spots from last week, with the Aggies coming in at No. 4. The Rattlers and No. 2 Bethune-Cookman each received nine first place votes. The Aggies and No. 3 Alcorn State each received a first place vote. Bethune-Cookman, Alcorn State and No. 5 Southern retained the same spots from last week.
In the media poll, the Rattlers received less first place votes (six) than No. 2 Alcorn State (nine). No. 3 Bethune-Cookman received the other two first place votes. No. 5 Bowie State remains undefeated after its victory over Virginia State and continues to move up in the poll, trading places with No. 6 South Carolina State.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and media poll is administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll, in its 11th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 13th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
