Takeaways from Week 15’s poll:
- Ahead of the Celebration Bowl, Jackson State remains the No. 1 team in HBCU football followed by South Carolina State at No. 2
- Saturday’s matchup of the two teams in CB will be a rematch of the 2021 CB, which South Carolina State won
- No. 3 Tennessee State finished the season with its best record since 2013 and participated in the FCS Playoffs for the first time since that season
- No. 5 Southern fell to Jackson State in the SWAC championship game, but finished the season with its best record since 2019 (also 8-5)
- No. 6 Virginia Union finished in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs
- The final HBCU media poll will be released on Monday, December 16
