Takeaways from Week 11’s poll:
- Jackson State remains No. 1 and is on a six-game winning streak, having defeated Mississippi Valley State on Saturday
- No. 6 Southern made the most significant jump, up four spots from last week after defeating Bethune-Cookman in five overtimes
- Johnson C. Smith, undefeated through nine weeks, has lost its last two and dropped out of the poll
- No. 8 Virginia State reenters the poll after its victory over No. 10 Virginia Union, who dropped three spots; the two teams will meet in a rematch on Saturday in the CIAA championship game
- Miles moves into the top 10 for the first time this season; has won eight-straight and will face Clark Atlanta in the SIAC championship game. The Panthers, in the poll earlier this year, are currently receiving votes
