Florida A&M retains its No. 1 spot in HBCU football for the second-straight week with the release of the HBCU Coaches and Media Polls on Monday. The Rattlers go to the 10-win mark with their victory over Bethune-Cookman in the Florida Classic.
The Rattlers once again received all of the first place votes in the coaches poll. No. 5 Prairie View A&M made the most significant jump, up three spots from last week. The Rattlers and Panthers will face off in the SWAC championship game on December 2. The Howard Bison moved up to No.3, one of HU’s highest rankings ever, after their win over Morgan State to secure the MEAC title. The Bison will face the winner of PV/FAMU in the Celebration Bowl.
In the media poll, FAMU, Benedict and North Carolina Central remain the top three teams. NCCU earned an at-large berth in the FCS Playoffs and will face Richmond on Saturday. Howard has risen rapidly, moving up four spots to a tie for No. 4 this week. No. 6 Prairie View A&M and No. 7 Alcorn State both reenter the poll this week.
The HBCU FCS coaches and HBCU media polls are administered by BOXTOROW. The coaches poll, in its 15th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 17th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
