HBCU NFL Draft Chronicles: Darius Leonard Podcast

South Carolina State linebacker Darius Leonard is the two-time reigning BOXTOROW Willie Davis Defensive Player of the Year. And with his former teammate Javon Hargrave being drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, he’s in good company.

Most expect Leonard’s name to be called in this week’s NFL Draft. He could be as high as a second-round pick. And there is plenty of reason to think so. In his four years as a starter at SC State, Leonard amassed 394 tackles, making him the leading tackler of all-time in South Carolina State history. Think about that. Harry Carson, Deacon Jones, Donnie shell and Robert Porcher all played at S.C. State. He also has 53 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks and six interceptions.

Wow!

He participated in the NFL Combine and was named Defensive MVP of the Senior Bowl, after making a game high 14 tackles. BOXTOROW host Donal Ware sat down with Leonard to talk about his career and future.
