HBCU D2 Coaches Poll: VUU knocks of Valdosta State, new No. 1; Bowie State falls

Virginia Union knocked off perineal Division II power Valdosta State on the road and was voted No. 1 in The HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW. The Panthers received 13 first place votes. No. 2 Albany State received three first place votes.

Bowie State, who was No. 1 last week, fell to Saginaw Valley State and dropped to No. 3 in the poll. The Bulldogs still received three first place votes.

The No. 4 Benedict Tigers remained undefeated with a victory over Lane, while No. 6 Fort Valley State defeated Kentucky State to also move to 2-0 on the season. The Wildcats made the biggest jump, moving up four spots from No. 10 last week. The Fayetteville State Broncos round out the top five.
