Florida A&M and North Carolina Central both lost games this Saturday, but the Rattlers and the Eagles remain the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in HBCU football with the release of the HBCU FCS Coaches Poll. The Rattlers fell to Miami, while the Eagles fell to Elon. FAMU received 11 first-place votes while the Eagles received three. Four other teams received a vote each.
Despite falling in a close contest to Towson, No. 3 Morgan State jumped up one spot from last week. Both Alabama State (Miles) and Howard (Mercyhurst) won respective games and are tied at No. 4 with the Hornets moving up three spots from last week and the Bison moving up two spots.
Jackson State is the newcomer to this week’s poll, having defeated Lane and sliding in at No. 10.
The HBCU FCS Coaches Poll is administered by BOXTOROW, and in its 16th year, is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches.
