With college basketball’s March Madness as its backdrop, BOXTOROW releases its 14th All-America teams for Division I men’s college basketball.

Norfolk State guard Joe Bryant, Jr. has been selected the BOXTOROW Player of the Year. Bryant was also named MEAC Player of the Year and led the MEAC in points scored (519) and finished second in scoring average (16.7). Additionally, he averaged 5.1 rebounds per game, registered 98 assists (3.2 apg), and 43 steals. Bryant is also sixth in the country in free throw shooting (.916). He was named MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player after averaging 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and scoring 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range in the Spartans championship game victory over Coppin State (3/16).

Norfolk State head coach Robert Jones and Alcorn State head coach Landon Bussie were named BOXTOROW Coaches of the Year. Jones, who just completed his ninth season as head coach, led the Spartans to their second straight MEAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, and a MEAC best 24-7 record. The Spartans also won the MEAC regular season, finishing with a 12-2 record and were 6-4 against non-conference Division I opponents.

Bussie, in his second season as head coach of ASU, orchestrated an 11-game turnaround from the 2020-21 season, leading the Braves from just six wins last season, to 17 wins this season. The Braves won the SWAC regular season title and a berth in the NIT.

Twelve schools are represented on this year’s BOXTOROW All-America teams.  BOXTOROW has administered the All-America team since 2009.
