Completed 27-of-35 passes for 317 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in helping lead the Bulldogs to a 28-19 victory over Saginaw Valley State. Johnson threw what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown to Keshan Hinckley, a 37-yarder with 12:10 remaining in the fourth quarter to put the Bulldogs up 21-17.

Johnson started the 2019 season as the third string quarterback and due to injuries was thrust into the starting role and produced 2856 yards of total offense and 34 touchdowns in helping lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated regular season and a second consecutive CIAA championship.
