Alabama State Running Back Ezra Gray
5-9, 180, Redshirt-Senior, Lynn Haven, Fla.
Carried the ball 23 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns, returned four kickoffs for 92 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards in the Hornets’ 35-28 victory over Jackson State. After JSU tied the score at 28 late in the game, Gray returned the ensuing kickoff 29 yards and on the next play ran for the 50-yard game-winning touchdown with 1:29 remaining. He totaled 299 all purpose yards in the game.
Gray was named a finalist for the William V. Campbell which is considered the Academic Heisman. This past season he earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and was named the FCS ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, FCS ADA All-Academic, and the Coca-Cola Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the Magic City Classic. Gray also earned his undergraduate degree from Alabama State, and has started pursuing a post-graduate degree.
