Rod Brind’Amour played 20 seasons in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues, Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes. During his career he scored over 1,000 points and 400 goals. He was traded from the Flyers to the ‘Canes during the 1999-2000 season. Two years later he helped lead the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup appearance and ultimately to the Stanley Cup title as captain in 2006. Since then. Brind’Amour has been a part of the Hurricanes organization, most recently as an assistant coach.
On May 9, Brind’Amour was named head coach of the Hurricanes. BOXTOROW Host Donal Ware sat down with the new Carolina Hurricanes coach and looked ahead to next season for the Hurricanes who have not made the playoffs since the 2008-09 season. Brind’Amour also talked personnel, the goal tending situation, what it’s going to take for the ‘Canes to at least get back to the playoffs and about that magical 2006 season.
