With Tiger Woods taking the world by storm by winning the Masters, there are certain players that had to lay the foundation for Woods. Lee Elder is one of those players.
Elder became the first Black player to play in the Masters, doing so in 1975, just like Charlie Sifford and Peete Brown laid the groundwork for Elder. BOXTOROW host Donal ware caught up with Elder prior to the Masters and talked with him about breaking onto the PGA Tour, what it was like being Black and playing on the tour in the late ’60’s and ’70’s, his career, the story about playing in South Africa at the invitation of Gary Player in 1971, and about the possibility of Woods winning the Masters.
