[/insert_php]Week five of the HBCU football season went mostly as expected. However losses by Prairie View A&M, Hampton and Alcorn State produced some rearranging in the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls.
In the coaches poll, the very top remained the same with North Carolina A&T, Grambling and Tennessee State continuing to hold down the No. 1, 2 and 3 rankings. The Aggies were a unanimous selection.
The Aggies defeated Hampton 31-9 in a nationally televised game on Thursday night. Grambling defeated Prairie View A&M 36-16 in the State Fair Classic in Dallas and Tennessee State remained unbeaten, opening OVC play with a 34-30 victory at UT Martin.
The biggest riser was North Carolina Central who leapfrogged idle No. 5 Southern to take the No. 4 spot after defeating Bethune-Cookman 31-14 in Daytona Beach.
Meanwhile in the media poll, the top five remained the same, the caveat being North Carolina Central tying PVAMU for the No. 5 spot. The Aggies received all but one first-place vote, staying at No. 1 while Grambling received the other first-place vote remaining at No. 2.
