BOXTOROW, as it is also known, debuted on August 20, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Ware originally hosted the show at a radio station in Baltimore. Terry Banks then became the host from September to January 2006, before Ware once again began hosting the show. During that time the show was airing in Baltimore/Washington, Birmingham, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, and Atlanta and on WAUG. WAUG is the only original affiliate that still carries BOXTOROW.

Today BOXTOROW airs in top 50 markets such as Washington, DC, Miami, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Austin, TX, Hampton Roads, VA, Nashville, TN, New Orleans, Raleigh and Greensboro to name a few. Over the years, BOXTOROW has aired in other top 50 markets including San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Detroit, Puerto Rico, Baltimore, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Milwaukee. BOXTOROW has also expanded to Satellite Radio where it made its debut in late 2011. BOXTOROW currently airs six days a week between SiriusXM Channels 141 and 142.

At the core of BOXTOROW’s focus has been HBCU (Historically Black College and University) sports and the happenings at schools in the CIAA, MEAC, SWAC, SIAC, GCAC as well as Tennessee State and other HBCUs not in conferences. Over these 10 years, BOXTOROW has told the stories of many athletes, coaches and administrators at HBCUs. Before they became top professional athletes, the likes of Antoine Bethea, Jason Hatcher, Tavaris Jackson, Jacoby Jones, Don Carey, Chris Baker, Terron Armstead and Isaiah Crowell appeared on BOXTOROW while still at their respective universities.

Because of BOXTOROW’s coverage of HBCU sports, an incident in late 2013 led to Ware’s appearance on ESPN’s Outside The Lines further raising the awareness of BOXTOROW. Speaking of national outlets, BOXTOROW All-America teams and media and coaches polls have appeared in publications such as USA Today and JET.

Over the years, BOXTOROW has evolved into one of the hottest sports talk programs in the country and the cre’me de la cre’me in the world of sports and entertainment has appeared on the show over the years including Serena Williams, Kevin Durant, Jerry Rice, Mike Tyson, George Williams, Adrian Peterson, Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Brown, Alex Morgan, Michael Strahan, Carli Lloyd, Kevin Hart, Ice Cube, Common, Joss Stone, Ziggy Marley and Darius Rucker to name a very few.

Events that BOXTOROW has covered or broadcast from include the Big Game (2009), MLB All-Star Games, NBA All-Star Weekends, NBA Finals, NHL All-Star Game and the U.S. Open. BOXTOROW has been able to secure credentials to these events under its own merits.

BOXTOROW is one of the very few shows anywhere to air on both terrestrial radio and Satellite Radio.

During the celebration on August 20, BOXTOROW will give away prizes including gift cards from Bojangles’. The general public is encouraged to attend the live show and also to Tweet about BOXTOROW using #BOXTOROW10.
