The 2022 HBCU college football Preseason All-America Team: Land, Sanders lead 29 players

The 2022 HBCU college football Preseason All-America Team is ripe with talent. Jackson State leads the way with five players named to the team, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the HBCU Rookie of the Year in 2021. Sanders was seventh in FCS in completion percentage (.659) completing 272-of-413 passes for 3,231 yards with 30 touchdowns. He also rushed for three touchdowns and threw for 300 or more yards in a game three times.

Florida A&M linebacker Isaiah Land, the reigning BOXTOROW Willie Davis Defensive Player of the Year, had one of the best statistical season’s ever in 2021. The redshirt senior from Buffalo, N.Y. recorded 19 sacks, and 25.5 tackles for loss, leading FCS in both categories. He also registered 43 tackles (32 solo) and three pass breakups on his way to being named the Buck Buchanan Award winner for the best defensive player in FCS. FAMU had three players selected, tied for the next most selections.

Southern also had three players selected including Jason Dumas, a 2021 selection as a member of Prairie View A&M. Defending HBCU champion South Carolina State has two selections.

In total, 17 programs are represented of the 29 selections.
