There are quite a few head coaches of HBCU program who played football in the National Football League. One of those coaches is former North Carolina Central standout Robert Massey, the head coach at Winston-Salem State, who was drafted in the second round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin said Massey was one of the toughest corners he faced in his career. Coaching is something Massey always wanted to and he talked with Donal Ware about his coaching experiences, receiving a new contract from WSSU and having the interim tag removed, expectations for the team, and he tells a great story about playing against Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.
