North Carolina Central defeated Norfolk State in its opening MEAC game of the season in Indianapolis on Saturday to remain No. 1 in the HBCU FCS Coaches Poll which was released on Monday. The Eagles received 17 of the 19 first place votes. The defending HBCU national champion Florida A&M Rattles received no first place votes, but remained at No. 2
No. 3 Tennessee State and No. 4 Jackson State received a first place vote each and both moved up from last week , TSU three spots and JSU four spots. Hampton rounded out the top five.
The HBCU FCS Coaches Poll is administered by BOXTOROW, and in its 16th year, is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches.
