Takeaways from Week 12’s HBCU FCS Coaches Poll:
- Jackson State is No. 1 for the third straight week; has won its last seven including Saturday’s road win over Alabama State to clinch the SWAC East and a championship game berth
- No. 2 South Carolina State wrapped up the MEAC’s Celebration Bowl berth with its victory over Morgan State; continues to gain on JSU, receiving seven of 19 first place votes
- No. 3 Tennessee State kept its Big South-OVC conference championship and FCS Playoffs hopes alive with its victory over Gardner-Webb
- No. 4 North Carolina Central kept its FCS Playoff hopes alive with its win over Howard
