In a split vote, the Florida A&M Rattlers outpointed the North Carolina Central Eagles and remained No. 1 in HBCU Media Poll released on Monday. Both the Rattlers and the Eagles received 10 first place votes.
The No. 3 Hampton Pirates made the most significant jump in the poll moving up six spots from last week after their 27-20 victory over Howard in Washington, DC. The No. 4 Grambling Tigers, who have won three-straight including Saturday’s 41-20 victory over Jackson State, also received one first place vote. Jackson State fell one spot to No. 5.
Johnson C. Smith entered the poll for the first time in years at No. 10. The Golden Bulls are the only team in HBCU football that has won every game it has played.
The HBCU Media Poll is administered by BOXTOROW and in its 18th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
