For the first time this year, there is a unanimous No. 1 as the Florida A&M Rattlers were voted so in the HBCU Media Poll released on Monday. This unanimous selection was despite a bye week for FAMU.
There were mixed results in terms of wins and losses for the teams ranked in the poll. No. 3 Howard, No. 4 Jackson State, No. 5 Tennessee Sate, and No. 9 Hampton all won games and either remained the same or moved up from last week’s poll. (Hampton was not ranked last week.) No. 2 North Carolina Central kept its game close against UNC, trailing 17-10 going into the fourth quarter and despite the 45-10 loss, retained its rankings from last week.
No. 10 Morgan State lost to FBS opponent Ohio, dropping one spot from last week. No. 7 Virginia Union and No. 8 Virginia State both had byes last week.
The HBCU Media Poll is administered by BOXTOROW and in its 18th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
