The HBCU Polls: NCCU tops polls again

The North Carolina Central Eagles made is two-straight to start the season with its win over rival North Carolina A&T on Saturday and remain No. 1 in HBCU football as The HBCU Coaches and Media Polls presented by BOXTOROW were released on Monday.

In the coaches poll, the Eagles were a unanimous selection and outdistanced No. 2 Florida A&M by 26 points. No. 3 Jackson State and No. 4 Howard won convincingly on Saturday and both moved up two spots. No. 5 Prairie View A&M fell to Abilene Christian and dropped to spots.

The top four teams remained the same in the media poll with NCCU, FAMU, Benedict, and JSU holding those spots. No. 5 Virginia Union moved up a spot from last week.

The HBCU FCS coaches and media polls are administered by BOXTOROW. The coaches poll, in its 15th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 17th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
