The Southern Jaguars look to return to the SWAC championship game for the first time since 2014. The Jaguars were very good in 2016, going 8-3, 8-1 in the SWAC. The Jaguars rival Grambling went undefeated in conference play and represented the Western Division in the championship game, won the SWAC championship game and the Celebration Bowl on its way to being named BOXTOROW HBCU national champions.
